Statistically Yours returns for its second episode. This time, your host Priyanka Nanayakkara brings you data on memes. More specifically, UCLA’s Facebook group “UCLA Memes for Sick AF Tweens.” We interviewed Eric Qu, one of the group’s co-creators, and gathered data from every meme on the group page to see if we could create “the dankest meme.”

NANAYAKKARA: The word “meme” is in the top 1% of searches on the online Merriam-Webster dictionary.

It can feel at times isolating for women studying and working in male-dominated environments. However, a host of clubs at UCLA are dedicated to talking about such issues, and creating communities for women in these fields.

Hundreds of foodies scraped sugar-soaked pie crumbs from paper plates Wilson Plaza Sunday for the seventh annual Good Food Pie Contest. Angelenos congregated on the lawn, where a labyrinth of tables displayed freshly baked pies, ranging from sweetie pie vegan apple to lemon custard pie with ginger snap crust.

With the start of the new school year just weeks away, UCLA is preparing to welcome the class of 2019. However, not all the work is being done in Westwood.

UCLA tour guides each give tours at least twice a week, showing prospective students and their families UCLA’s campus and giving them a feel for what it means to be a Bruin.  

On May 14, the first U.S. screening of Shingo Wakagi’s new film, “Asleep” – which tells the story of a woman who has a romantic relationship with a man whose wife is in a coma – took place in UCLA’s Fowler Museum.

Singers from UCLA’s Random Voices A Cappella take an interlude from rehearsal to describe their musical journeys. The California A Cappella Festival, an event that Random Voices host every year, will take place on April 4.

Students from a variety of majors join in the Schoenberg Music Building on weekday evenings to learn the art of sitar playing from their instructor, UCLA lecturer and sitarist Rahul Neuman.
