“Watching election night and seeing all the raw emotions from people around the world and my own family was very empowering,” said Siegel, a third-year political science student.
UCLA will offer new travel study opportunities and application-based courses to students who wish to apply their knowledge outside traditional classroom settings.
Assistant Vice Provost Jaime Balboa said students can begin applying to three new travel study opportunities for summer.
An undergraduate student government office suggested creating a nondenominational prayer and meditation space on campus during last Friday’s Associated Students UCLA meeting.
Aaliya Khan, the Undergraduate Students Association Council general representative who presented the proposal, said UCLA is one of the only UC campuses that does not have a prayer space on campus.
Associated Students UCLA is a multimillion-dollar organization that provides for student services and activities that the university does not fund and oversees the Undergraduate Students Association Council, Graduate Students Association, Communications Board and campus services and enterprises.
The pharmacy at UCLA’s Arthur Ashe Student Health and Wellness Center will move to Ackerman Union next summer to expand clinical services within the Ashe Center, as discussed at an undergraduate student government meeting last Tuesday.
Beginning this fall, UCLA Counseling and Psychological Services, or CAPS, will only offer six free visits per academic year, compared to last year’s 10.
Dr. Nicole Green, interim executive director, said CAPS decided to reduce the number of sessions because national statistics show the majority of students only seek four or five sessions per year.
