The UC Board of Regents appointed Marlenee Blas Pedral as the 2022-2023 UC student regent Wednesday.
Blas Pedral, a first-generation, rising second-year UC Berkeley law student, is the 48th student regent and will serve as the student regent-designate in discussions for the upcoming academic year, according to a University of California Office of the President press release.

The University of California announced Thursday that COVID-19 vaccinations will be mandatory for all students returning to campus in the fall.
The UC will require all students, faculty and staff to be vaccinated with few exceptions, despite all COVID-19 vaccines being allowed for emergency use, said UC Office of the President in a statement Thursday.
The policy states proof of vaccination will be required two weeks prior to returning to campus.
UCLA students can obtain self-administered COVID-19 tests via on-campus vending machines starting July 12, according to a campuswide email Friday.
COVID-19 test kit vending machines are located in 12 spots on campus including Pauley Pavilion, Ackerman Union, UCLA Anderson School of Management, Haines Hall, the UCLA School of Law, Murphy Hall, La Kretz Hall, the Neuroscience Research Building, UCLA Facilities Management and the Center for Health Sciences.
The University of California announced Cecilia Estolano as the 2021-2022 UC Board of Regents chair in a press release Thursday.
The 2020-2021 Board of Regents approved Estolano’s chair nomination in their May meeting, and her term begins effective July 1.
