There are still two months left until the election season begins
for next year’s undergraduate student government, and some
presidential hopefuls are already beginning to form their campaigns
and strategies.

An open spot for general representative unexpectedly went to a
candidate not approved by the undergraduate government’s
appointing committee on Tuesday night, resulting in a split vote
between councilmembers.

A resolution geared at increasing student involvement in a
community service program unanimously passed at Tuesday
night’s meeting of the undergraduate student government.
The Resolution in Support of Bruin Up Books, co-sponsored by
three members of the Undergraduate Students Association Council, is
intended to move the location of the community service program from
the dorms to the general campus where more students will have
access to it.

The five-month-long case about the Jewish Student Union’s
appeal for additional funding from the undergraduate student
government concluded Monday night when a hearing resulted in the
student government coming out victorious.

The dispute between the Jewish Student Union and the
undergraduate student government regarding JSU’s appeal for
additional funding will be settled tonight by the Judicial Board
when both parties meet for the hearing in the UCLA Anderson School
of Management.

Two positions for the undergraduate student government have
recently opened up to the entire student body.
With the resignation last week of Nelson Saldaña as a the
general representatives for the Undergraduate Students Association
Council, the position is now up for grabs for qualified
students.

the second round of guideline drafts late Tuesday regarding
university funding policies for student governments and
organizations.

The weekly meeting of the undergraduate student government
Tuesday night overflowed with supporters of the Chicana/o
organization MEChA, who were there to protest allegations made by
the Bruin Republicans that the organization subscribes to racist
views.

The recent release of a document alleging unfair funding on the
part of the undergraduate student government’s budget
committee has raised concerns about the legitimacy of the funding
allocation process.

A general representative of the undergraduate student government
resigned Wednesday, marking the fourth time in four years a member
has left office in the middle of a term.
