Christopher Gorham, UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television alumnus, has played everything from superhero techie Jake Foley in “Jake 2.0″ and cute accountant Henry Grubstick in “Ugly Betty” to serial killer Henry Dunn on the TV show “Harper’s Island.”

I’d like to say that ending college is like falling into Picasso’s painting “The Actor” at The Metropolitan Museum of Art: a sad ending to a beautiful masterpiece, minus the punch holes.

Being a woman in the film industry may have its challenges. However, five female Bruins prove to be leading ladies as they showcase their award-winning films at the 10th anniversary of the Ojai-Ventura International Film Festival.

Whether beneath the bright lights of Broadway’s stage or in front of the camera, when the director yells “action,” alumnus Michael Stuhlbarg is ready for the challenge.

While some may not need a reminder of this bumpy transition, those in search of some self-reflection can look to the aptly-titled film “Post Grad,” which was partially filmed at UCLA and opens nationwide on Aug. 21.

As even the biggest and most well-known independent film distributors face a turning point in the once illustrious indie film industry, new companies are still emerging to take the reigns and try new methods to protect the voices of current and future independent filmmakers everywhere.

Surprisingly, Director Ridley Scott’s (“American Gangster,” “Black Hawk Down”) recent action feature “Body of Lies” fails to thrill.
