In the most basic sense, Toro Y Moi’s new album “Anything in Return” comes across as an edgier, R&B-influenced take on the French electronic group Télépopmusik’s popular track “Breathe.” And, for the most part, it’s done very well.
Muse’s latest venture, “The 2nd Law,” references everything from Michael Jackson to dubstep to Queen (this is Muse, after all). The result is a massive variety that, though somewhat tied together under the banner of Muse’s unsubtle, riotous sound, doesn’t fully manage to come together.
Imagine a movie scene set during some crazy, festive merrymaking that centers around a sweet love story. That is what PK’s music sounds like. The band’s latest work, “The Lost Boy Sessions” EP, is an example of the finest of this danceable indie rock.
UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television is breaking new ground with an innovative interdisciplinary course. The class, which involves both the theater and film, television and digital media departments of TFT, will eventually create an entirely new production inspired by the iconic work called “Gone With the Wind Remixed.”
