UCPD is investigating a reported sexual battery that occurred Thursday at 1 p.m. outside the Broad Art Center.

The victim – a UCLA student – reported the incident to UCPD shortly after it occurred, according to a Thursday UCPD Clery Timely Warning.

The suspect, described as a man in his 30s, was last seen on Charles E. Young Drive going toward Parking Structure 3, according to the alert.

UCPD is working to identify and locate the suspect, said Richard Mejia, the director of emergency communications and information for the Office of Campus and Community Safety, in an emailed statement.

UCPD shared safety recommendations in the alert – such as Campus Advocacy Resources and Education, which provides confidential guidance for victims of sexual and gender-based violence – while also noting that perpetrators, not victims, are solely responsible for their actions.

“We encourage anyone who may have seen the suspect or has information that could assist with the investigation to contact UCPD,” Mejia said in the statement
