UCPD recorded 514 unique entries in its Aug. 1-31 daily crime log.

University police received 92 crime reports in August that resulted in active police cases. Of the active cases, 48 were open cases and 44 were closed or inactive as of Thursday, according to UCPD’s crime and fire log.

Theft and burglary was the most common category, with 23 reports resulting in cases, followed by 14 reports of traffic and vehicular incidents, according to the log.

UCPD also recorded 422 events that did not result in active cases, with the following statuses as of Thursday:

Report taken: 82

Information only: 38

Non-criminal matter: 73

Warned or advised: 15

Canceled (by any party): 28

Victim not desirous of report: 10

Referred to outside agency: 47

Unable to locate: 21

Field interviewed: 9

Courtesy report: 5

Citation issued: 1

Unfounded: 2

Of the 422 incidents not resulting in cases, four were categorized as rape or another sex crime. UCPD categorized one event as a rape report, one as a sexual battery report and two as indecent exposure reports.

Data for this story was obtained as a public record under the Jeanne Clery Act, which requires universities to report campus crime data.
