UCPD is investigating an armed robbery that occurred on Gayley Avenue on Thursday at 2:15 a.m.

A man with a firearm entered a fraternity house and took three people’s jewelry, according to a Clery Timely Warning alert. The suspect wore a ski mask, black hooded sweatshirt and camouflage shorts, UCPD said in the alert.

The person then fled south in a red Tesla, according to the Clery Timely Warning alert.

The victims – who are not affiliated with UCLA – were not injured, the alert said.

The armed robbery occurred on the same night as UCLA’s Undie Run tradition, during which students run in their underwear from the intersection of Strathmore Drive and Gayley Avenue to Dickson Plaza at midnight on the Wednesday of finals week each academic quarter.

Jeffrey Chobanian, the captain of UCPD’s operations bureau, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

UCPD said in the alert that people should remain aware of their surroundings, prioritize their safety and call 911 if they feel endangered.

UCPD also shared several campus resources in the alert, including UCLA Safe Ride, the Evening Escort Program – which provides escort services to UCLA community members – and Counseling and Psychological Services.
