Hidden behind CAMP’s Magic Door, the United States’ first immersive “Bluey” experience embodies the essence and exuberance of play.

Based on the hit Australian television program, “Bluey x CAMP” is an hourlong immersive experience for little ones and grown-ups alike. Complete with two slides and fan-favorite games such as “Keepy Uppy,” Bluey’s home offers a variety of activities for families and friends to engage with before closing out their visit with a Bluey and Bingo meet-and-greet. The dogs from down under will be playing hide-and-seek at the store’s Westfield Century City location from Nov. 6 through newly-extended dates in February. Ticket prices range from around $40 to $50.

Prior to entering the world of “Bluey,” groups of just over 10 guests are escorted to the back of the CAMP store, where one of the various CAMP Counselors, clad in matching blue T-shirts and navy overalls, prepares guests for the cross-dimensional trek. Past the wooden Magic Door is a small, monochromatic blue hallway with the numbers one through 10 marked out on the floor. Each number plays a corresponding music note, giving rise to a game in which guests are instructed to jump on and off the spots to play the sunshiny “Bluey” theme song. Afterwards, a newly crafted animation plays in which the beloved Bluey characters discuss “The Most Amazing Game of Hide-and-Seek Ever,” setting up the premise of the experience.

As Bluey and Bingo hide and sneak around their 5,000-square-foot home, guests are instructed to play an assortment of their favorite games to find them. From the floor to just below the ceiling, nearly every inch of the home is decorated with warm colors and rounded edges. Screens accent almost every room, blending into their surroundings by acting as windows or cardboard boxes. Periodically, the two mischievous pups make an appearance, eliciting cheers from any young explorers in the vicinity.

Complete with a working television, the living room boasts a stack of paper handouts detailing a fairy-themed scavenger hunt. Ranging from fairy bread to a dog in a shoe, the 10-item list sends guests scouring across the different rooms, looking high and low as items are hidden upside down and sideways. Hole punchers in a variety of shapes are scattered around the walls for guests to tick off found items with crown- and star-shaped imprints.

Centered around a giant kiwi rug, the playroom becomes the setting for a group dance party, drawing direct inspiration from the “Dance Mode” episode. The previously cool-toned lights turn a plethora of rainbow colors as two counselors initiate a heated skit revolving around the theft of a snack. Following the initiation of “Dance Mode,” soft spotlights and a stream of steadily changing colors flood the room, counterbalancing the previous lighting to create a subdued party atmosphere. Guests may also request sunglasses and noise-canceling headphones prior to entering Bluey’s home. As the ambient music turns into an upbeat rhythm, counselors invite everyone to dance, making sure to include little ones on the outskirts of the room.

Multiple blanket forts and games are spread out across the property, encouraging guests to actively interact with the furniture. Cupboards are stocked with cans of beans, while closets house pastel blue towels. In the backyard, two toadstools are set up at a coloring station complete with crayons and “Bluey”-themed pages. Aside from the fairy-themed scavenger hunt, certain toys and decorations nod to other episodes, such as “Magic Xylophone” and “Unicorse,” encouraging groups to embody the spirit of familial play that fuels “Bluey.”

After thoroughly exploring the rooms, counselors lead groups to a back corner to play one final game inspired by the titular freeze dance sequence. Upon opening another secret door, guests enter a long walk-in closet where another animation closes out the experience, revealing the final hiding spot of Bluey and Bingo.

Split into families, small groups each have their turn to take a photo with Bluey and Bingo. Afterward, guests are led back into the yard where they can peruse the gift shop tucked inside of the shed before making their final departure. Other CAMP locations across the country offer their own versions of a Bluey and Bingo meet-and-greet. However, the Los Angeles location is the only one that boasts an immersive experience for the time being.

Making the leap from two dimensions to three, Bluey’s U.S. debut will leave guests of all ages feeling anything but “Bluey.”
