The Bruins will face a new opponent over the weekend.
No. 1 UCLA women’s water polo (15-0, 2-0) will take on Biola (6-11) in regular season play Saturday afternoon for the two teams’ first-ever matchup.
The Bruins earned one win and one loss in back-to-back games Friday afternoon.
“It’s February, so we’re going to put ourselves in a position to just grind through the preseason,” said coach Kelly Inouye-Perez.
The Bruins are heading into their first tournament of the season.
“Starting on Friday, it is going to be the most challenging weekend we’ve had at this point,” said coach Adam Wright.
Softball’s introduction into the 1996 Olympic Games proved to be a massive moment for the sport.
“We had reached that pinnacle of athletics, and that’s being an Olympic sport, and getting onto the mainstream where we’re in the talks with soccer and women’s basketball,” said UCLA associate head coach Lisa Fernandez.

UCLA defeated California three times in 2023.
Once in September and twice in October, the Bruins enacted revenge on the team that previously served them seven straight losses entering the year.
