More than a year after California voters elected to give $3
billion in bonds to fund stem cell research, and with the measure
stalled in legal proceedings, professors and researchers met to
discuss the proposition and other related issues at UCLA for a stem
cell symposium Sunday.
The Los Alamos National Security transition team developed and
submitted a basic transition plan to the Department of Energy for
review Friday as part of its process to bring its new management
team into the Los Alamos National Laboratory.

The UCLA Medical Center may be receiving a number of new liver
transplant patients after the UC Irvine liver transplant program
shut down last Thursday.
The Irvine center was closed after the federal government pulled
its certification and funding because the medical center had not
met federal standards.
UCLA students studying abroad in France are safe despite rioting
which has created mayhem and caused at least one death in Paris and
surrounding cities, University of California officials said

None of the 35 students studying in France, 14 based in Paris,
are in schools close to areas that have been under heavy violence,
said Bruce Hanna, director of communications for the UC Education
Abroad Program.
