Every day, hundreds of students walk up and down Gayley Avenue.
To the average student, many of the houses they pass are merely
buildings.
But for the fraternity brothers who occupy them, they are
home.

In addition to a slight rise in profits and patronage, the
recent introduction of Taco Bell to the Cooperage has brought
increased congestion near the new eatery during the lunch hour and
comes at a time of budding plans for a newly remodeled
Ackerman.

After nearly a decade of problems surrounding student parking,
and six years since the last student survey concerning parking
allocation, UCLA Transportation Services plans to re-evaluate the
current parking allocation system and hopes to offer students a new
and more equitable system for parking-pass distribution.

Taco Bell is back.
After almost a year off campus, the Cooperage reintroduced the
popular eatery Sept. 19, just over a week before the start of fall
quarter.

When U-Dog, an eatery offering specialty hot dogs at inexpensive
prices, entered Westwood last year, it was a venture directed at
students. It introduced itself with hot dogs for $1, a deal plenty
of students enjoyed, especially when many claimed Westwood is not a
student-friendly town.

A proposed street-use ordinance tax, which some Westwood Village
Farmers’ Market vendors said would force them to close their
stalls, has been modified and now exempts all farmers’ market
vendors.

The usual bustling crowd of hungry hospital employees, doctors,
patients and family members at the UCLA Medical Center’s
cafeteria were met with colorful balloons and discounted
’50s-inspired meals Thursday as the first of a series of
celebrations in honor of the medical center’s 50th
anniversary.

The California Student Sustainability Coalition held its first
presentation of the Action Research Team’s environmental
proposals Wednesday evening, offering a program filled with
environmentally conscious suggestions for the UCLA campus, research
findings for the statewide coalition and complimentary mugs of hot
tea for all attendees.

During a time when gas prices are at record highs, UCLA
students, faculty and staff will be offered a greater incentive to
ride public transportation next year.

The music is what attracted the students to come, but it was the
words that made them stay.
As the sun went down over DeNeve Plaza Thursday night, the UCLA
Clothesline Project held its annual Take Back the Night event,
which was the culmination of a week filled with t-shirts,
statistics and a unified struggle against all gender-based violence
and hate crimes.
