Gray Davis, former governor of California, and Jim Brulte,
former minority leader of state senate, will soon be joining the
ranks of politicians hired by UCLA to teach undergraduate students
public policy.

With concern about the worldwide threat of bird flu growing, the
federal government has made plans to increase the nation’s
supply of the antiviral pill Tamiflu in case the disease enters the
U.S., but local health officials say the flu presents no immediate
danger to Los Angeles.

High school seniors across the state have taken the new high
school exit exam for the first time this year and about 20 percent
of them ““ nearly 100,000 ““ failed, according to a
report released last week by the Human Resources Research
Organization.

Balancing work with school can be difficult, but it is often a
necessity for many students. But with some extra dedication,
students have found that it can be done successfully.

Imad Moustapha, the Syrian ambassador to the United States,
spoke Thursday of Syrian relations with the United States in
regards to the situation in the Middle East.
