Election Board officials for the undergraduate student
government said last spring’s general election results were
not compromised by bloc voting though election statistics released

contributed numerous votes.
This year about 50 students will have the opportunity to learn
about student government hands on by interning for the
Undergraduate Students Association Council.
The internship can be a steppingstone to a council position, but
council members say USAC is focused on increasing awareness about
the issues that face student government rather than on recruiting
potential council members.
Marcus Rosner, who was born and raised locally, recalls the
Westwood of the late 1940’s, when parking meters on
Westwood Boulevard took
pennies instead of quarters and his mother would take him to
Will Wright’s ice cream parlor on weekends.
City councilman Jack Weiss met with concerned Westwood business
owners Thursday to discuss the possible yearlong closure of Glendon
Avenue to accommodate a development project.
The project, proposed by Casden Properties, would be a $100
million residential and retail facility, located at Glendon and
Tiverton avenues.
Wiggum’s Roadhouse, a restaurant and bar, will open
Saturday at the old site of Madison’s Neighborhood Bar and
Grill, which closed last year.
Although the new restaurant will occupy the same address on
Broxton Avenue as Madison’s did, it will have little else in
common with the old establishment, said Leigh Slawner, the new
owner.
