On Wednesday night, Bruin Plaza was transformed into a marketplace.

Michelle Hong, a first-year biology student, watched in awe as red and gold lions raced up aisles and onto the stage, dancing around the perimeter of the Ackerman Grand Ballroom.

As the sun set over Bruin Plaza, Norah Sarsour, a fourth-year English student, addressed a crowd of hungry supporters.

Shouting, “We will win; love is not a sin!” and carrying recently antiquated “No on 8″ signs, students against Proposition 8 came together Friday night and held a march around campus and a rally in Bruin Plaza.

Students armed with clipboards, posters and matching green shirts worked alongside one another in front of Royce Hall to publicize Proposition 1A.
