In a land where the distance between north and south campus is
hardly intimidating and where the five-year plan is hardly taboo,
Bruins migrate north, migrate south and change their minds time and
time again ““ all in an effort to “find
themselves.”
Before settling on one subject however, outgoing students often
explored their options during their first year on campus.
Douglas Martin cited Dr. Pepper as “his drink” and
the UCLA campus as one of his favorite places; friends, family and
admirers gathered in Dickson Court Thursday to celebrate the life
of Martin on what would have been his 56th birthday.

Students usually steer clear of libraries when they desire
soothing study music. But at 4 p.m. today, the folk sounds of
SuperDevoiche will hit Powell Library’s second-floor
rotunda.
A bomb scare interrupted morning routines at the UCLA Medical
Plaza shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday, but investigations yielded
evidence of marijuana rather than explosives.
An announcement on the PA system instructed people inside the
100, 200 and 300 buildings of the medical plaza to evacuate
immediately after instructions given by the building manager,
according to university police.
Ejaculating, popping pills for extra cash ““ in times of
financial strain, some students will do just about anything to make
ends meet.
In need of money, Bruins and students at other universities
sometimes resort to quirky jobs and drastic measures.
As California’s Latino population steadily rises, the
group’s educational attainment and opportunities stagnate,
according to a study released by the Chicano Studies Research
Center.
But within this large population, more than half of its adults
lack even a high school diploma.
