Long a contested topic among students and professors alike,
pass/no pass grading has once again become a topic of conversation
as its fall deadline approaches.
Students first hear about this option in summer orientation
where their counselors explain that the pass/no pass grading option
is designed to allow students the opportunity to explore classes
outside their area of expertise while still allowing them to get
credit for their work.
In their final days as students on the UCLA campus, many of
those graduating grow nostalgic about the time they’ve spent
as Bruins. Fond memories of dorms, finals, 500 helpings of Panda
Express and games against rival USC are among the mix.
The Nikkei Student Union hosted 34 teams this weekend in the
Yuji Ichioka Memorial Basketball Tournament held in Pauley
Pavilion.
The 12th annual tournament, previously called the “shoot
out,” was renamed last year after the death of Asian American
activist Yuji Ichioka, one of the founders of the Asian American
Studies Center.
Doctor Edward McCabe’s goal at the Mattel Children’s
Hospital is to “look after the whole child,” ensuring
that youths’ emotional and mental needs are cared for along
with their physical ailments.

After serving in Ackerman Union since September 1996, Pulse Copy
center will be closing its doors at the end of this quarter.
Jane Osborne, the store’s general manager for the past
seven years, said she is sad to see Pulse leave UCLA.
