USA Today named a local eatery one of the ten best vegetarian
restaurants in the United States as part of a feature story on
vegetarianism.
Native Foods on Gayley Avenue in Westwood was one of two
California restaurants to make USA Today’s list, published in
October in an article about World Vegetarian Day.
Three months after Transportation Services changed campus
shuttle routes, unhappy students are wondering if planners
considered student concerns in their decisions, while officials
maintain the department has been responsive to student input in
other areas of on-campus transportation.
If one word could describe the talent of the 12 gymnasts
contending for the six spots on the U.S. Olympic gymnastics team,
it would be “deep.”
The gymnasts vying for a spot on the 2004 Olympic team make up
the most talented selection group from which the United States ever
has drawn.
From running shuttles to subsidizing bus fares, UCLA
Transportation Services offers several options to students for
getting to and around campus.
Students use the campus shuttle to transport between
destinations on campus, as well as to campus from the Hill and the
Wilshire Center.
UCLA’s Facilities Management ran sprinklers during midday
repeatedly this month, a behavior environmental groups call
wasteful.
A Los Angeles city ordinance aimed at water conservation
prohibits anyone from using sprinklers between 10 a.m.
Any Angelino who has braved the 405 Freeway during rush hour
must have wondered why so many people have to drive.
But a better question might be, “Why shouldn’t
they?”
In the sprawling, car-centric city UCLA students call home,
driving remains the transportation method of choice for most.
