Courtney Ellis is able to attend a botany class at UCLA by
commuting from Palmdale and Mission Hills, but unlike every other
UCLA student she will never have to worry about parking because she
can’t drive.

It is not a crime scene.
Nor is it a construction site.
The caution tape recently stretched across the outside columns
of Perloff Hall is part of a quarter-long project taken on by
eleven graduate students of the UCLA Department of Architecture and
Urban Design.

While kicking and punching their way through martial arts
classes, students are having fun as well as learning
self-defense.
On campus, students are learning to protect themselves by taking
martial-arts classes at the Wooden Center and classes specifically
for self-defense through the UCLA Center for Women & Men.

UCLA students have one less reason to venture beyond their
computer screens starting this winter quarter.
Student Accounting eliminated the monthly mailing of BAR Account
paper statements last December.

Los Angeles police officers and business owners discussed
homeless people in Westwood who may hurt businesses at a town hall
meeting at Jerry’s Famous Deli Tuesday.

To many students, it may seem that construction projects at UCLA
are years behind schedule, but the construction for the new
intramural field and parking structure is actually three months
ahead of schedule.

Despite the efforts of Transportation Services to give parking
spaces to those who need it most, there are numerous students who
feel cheated by the system and question its methods.

UCLA and the surrounding community need more blood and platelet
donations than anywhere else in the nation, but the UCLA Blood and
Platelet Center cannot nearly supply the hospital’s
demand.

Clad in green, orange and black striped suits, members of the
British Parliament paid a visit to UCLA this past weekend to tour
the city, meet with students, and above all, to play rugby.

come or were not even aware of the event.
