As UCLA students, each of you arrived on campus with your own unique talents, background and ambitions. At the same time, you also shared some important qualities with your fellow students – a thirst to excel, a knack for leadership and a commitment to making the world around you a better place.

UCLA’s planned sale of the Hannah Carter Japanese Garden has generated an unusual volume of commentary from our neighbors in Bel Air and conservation- and preservation-minded individuals and groups.

This is one of my favorite times of the year. Across campus, celebration fills the air, the pride of achievement is palpable, and I have the pleasure of unabashedly leading the cheers.
