In the battle for cross-town supremacy, the Bruins and Trojans
fought to a stand-still, winning one game apiece.
Playing two games against USC this past weekend, the UCLA
men’s hockey team came up short on Friday with a 4-2 loss,
but quickly rebounded with a 3-2 win on Saturday.
The past and present faces of UCLA coincided on the track this
past Saturday at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee
Invitational. Jon Rankin, the former Bruin star middle-distance
runner, led the way as freshman Laef Barnes followed behind in the
mile.

improve its play so that it peaks during the outdoor season. After
finishing first at the Cal/Nevada Championships this past week, it
certainly looks like the Bruins are heading in that direction.
Fresh air might be the cure for the UCLA men’s track and
field team. Following the Bruins’ disappointing showing at
the NCAA Indoor Championships, they now shift their focus to the
outdoor season as they travel to Northridge to compete in the CSUN
Invitational on Friday.
