Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck’s directorial debut, “The Lives of Others,” poses several weighty questions.

Typical images of the 1930s in America: the Great Depression,
migrant farm workers, Herbert Hoover.
Few think of cinema. But the 1930s mark one of the most heralded
decades in movie history.

In the midst of a leafy residential area of Leimert Park sits an
amalgam of business and ideas.
The Lucy Florence Coffeehouse opened its doors in 1996 but has
since become much more than just a place to eat.

Giving people advice they don’t want to hear can be hard,
or worse, awkward. But now, the Internet is making it easy.
Thanks to “How Do I Say This?”, the brainchild of
David Harris, a fourth-year graduate student in the UCLA School of
Theater, Film and Television, anxious participants can worry no
more about those viciously awkward moments.

rock fans (and even the musically curious) through a series of rock
films hosted at the James Bridges Theater at 8 p.m.
