UCLA starts each year off with a bash ““ Bruin Bash.
The event, which includes a concert and a dance, has been part
of the Welcome Week tradition since 2003 and is designed to usher
continuing students back into the swing of things and welcome new
students.

Though a dollar bill used to be enough, students craving a
late-night ice cream sandwich-fix from Diddy Riese Cookies now have
to dig in their pockets for an extra quarter.

Hundreds of people filled Bruin Plaza on Friday, spilling onto
the steps and roof of Ackerman Union, to watch Patricia
Alford-Keating, a UCLA Student Psychological Services counselor,
and her partner, Shannon Lea Keating, rededicate their lives to one
another in a public ceremony.

The seed of sustainability has grown at UCLA over the past year
and now it is branching into the chancellor’s office.
As part of an effort to continue to educate students about the
importance of sustainability, Chancellor Albert Carnesale recently
signed a charter establishing the Campus Sustainability Committee
as a permanent advisory body to his office, with a full-time
professional campus coordinator.

Alternating between cheering loudly and crying freely, survivors
of sexual assault and their allies shared their stories Thursday
night and vowed to put an end to the violence.

Hundreds of men and women at UCLA aren’t ashamed to hang
their laundry out for all to see. For some, hanging clothes may be
nothing more than a chore, but for others, it is a step toward
healing.

Every Mother’s Day, Darlene Geurin can’t help but
