By the time you finish reading this sentence, somewhere in
Africa someone was just infected with AIDS, and by the end of the
day over 15,000 Africans will be infected with this deadly and
virulent disease.

I know I don’t normally do movie reviews, but if
you’re looking for a great flick to watch this weekend, rent
the old 1963 classic “Jason and the Argonauts.”
It’s an adaptation of the Greek myth, featuring our hero
Jason the adventurer traveling around the world, fighting and
conquering his foes without much trouble.

A tragedy occurred last Christmas Eve when Laci Peterson, who
was eight months pregnant, mysteriously disappeared from her
Modesto, California home.
On April 14 tragedy struck again when her body, along with the
body of her unborn son Connor, was discovered washed up on the San
Francisco Bay shore.

Once upon a time a bored young shepherd boy decided to play a
trick on his little village. He cried, “Wolf! wolf!”
and the people of the town rushed to his side, ready to fight off
the danger.

privilege of meeting Senator John Edwards, a man who strongly
desires to be the next president of the United States.

Man, I really hate paying my car insurance. It’s really
costly, and I’m just a poor college student. It seems
unnecessary, because I’m a pretty good driver (if I do say so

focused on just one thing. From presidents and protesters, to kings
and criminals, the world’s spotlight has been fixed on
President George W.

In the time it takes you to read this sentence, a child will
have died of malaria somewhere in the developing world. In the time
it takes you to read this column, five children will have died from
measles somewhere in the developing world.
