Thousands of University of California employees are coming
together to voice their concerns regarding the upcoming budget
cuts, hopeful their collective efforts will prevail.
The UC Union Coalition, consisting of several UC systemwide
unions, is working toward holding the University of California
accountable for its financial expenditures, along with making
access to education a priority.

The graduate council of the Academic Senate endorsed on Monday
the departmental proposal submitted by the César E.
Chávez Center for interdisciplinary instruction in Chicana/o
studies and said the legendary labor organizer’s name could
stay in the department title.

a more global level.

As they near their 35th years of existence, two of the four
major ethnic studies centers are continually working to obtain
departmental status ““ a process some feel is overdue.
