For the second night in a row, clutch hitting by Wichita State
slugger Drew Moffitt bested the UCLA baseball team.
The day after singling home the winning run, the Shocker senior
gave fans an encore performance Wednesday evening at Eck
Stadium.
It would be the final time that senior swimmer Sara Platzer
would dive into a pool for UCLA. Last weekend in College Station,
Texas, Platzer was competing in the last leg of her collegiate
career, swimming with 11 other Bruins at the NCAA Swimming
Championships.
Four Bruin divers will compete in Oklahoma City this weekend in
the final obstacle on the way to the NCAA swim and dive
championships.
Sophomores Amanda Blong, Sara Clark and Paige Thompson as well
as junior Janine Strack will participate in the NCAA Zone E Diving
Championships.
After four grueling days of competition, the UCLA swim and dive
team captured second place in the 2004 Pac-10 swimming and diving
championships.
The tournament, which the Bruins won in 2003, was hosted by
Arizona State and held at the Belmont Pool in Long Beach.
The UCLA crew teams may have found a new place to practice, as
long as the wet weather continues.
Jackie Robinson Stadium certainly isn’t fit for baseball,
and the Bruins’ weekend series against Pacific consequently
ended in a rain-shortened split.
Speeding down the home stretch of the 2003-2004 swimming and
diving season could not be more exciting for the UCLA team. Coach
Cyndi Gallagher’s Bruins (7-2, 4-2 Pac-10) have already
proven themselves against some of the top competition in the
country, with an upset victory against No.
