The Undergraduate Students Association Council launched a new COVID-19 Relief Fund to provide emergency grants to undergraduate students who have been economically impacted by the novel coronavirus.
UCLA officials are taking steps to avoid recent “Zoombombing” incidents in which people interrupt online lectures with vulgar audio and chat messages.
The university is working on providing support to students and faculty who were verbally attacked during the incidents, which took place during the first week of spring online instruction, Chancellor Gene Block said in a campuswide email Wednesday.
A barrage of vulgar words and messages interrupted several UCLA classes held Tuesday on the video conference application Zoom.
“Zoombombing”, a new type of internet trolling, occurs when an individual or a group of individuals use Zoom features to interrupt a meeting or class.
Students can pay $15 less to replace a BruinCard starting March 2, under a new student government program.
The fee waivers would be given on a first-come, first-served basis through filling out a Google form on the Undergraduate Students Association Council Financial Supports Commission’s social media or website or by directly filling out a form at the BruinCard Center.
