On Oct. 4, two robberies occurred within hours of each other on Levering and Kelton Avenues. There seems to be a correlation between the lack of street lighting and the location of the crimes.
In 1985, a clothing store exploded and went up in flames in the Fairfax district. Since then, the prospect of a subway running from downtown Los Angeles to Westwood has disappeared.
