If you had $100,000 to improve quality of life for students at UCLA, what would you spend it on? Now, imagine if you could get a portion of
that $100,000, and all you had to do was apply for it.
On Jan. 30, 2018, the Undergraduate Students Association Council’s Academic Affairs Commissioner, Divya Sharma, wrote a submission in the Daily Bruin regarding his appointments to the Academic Senate.
The Undergraduate Students Association Council president is arguably one of the most privileged and influential student positions at UCLA, given its access, platform and resources.
The president, however, is limited in their power: They can only vote in the event of a tie on any council measure.

While I applaud Vice Chancellor Montero for condemning the hateful rhetoric, the email – without context or explanation – was inadequate.
