I support Ralph Nader’s independent campaign for
president, but I will not be voting for him. My support for his
candidacy doesn’t come from a belief that he’d be a
good president ““ in fact, I think he would not be much of a
president at all.

Last Thursday I woke up to find a parking ticket on my
car’s windshield, something not too uncommon in our cramped
Westwood. But what was remarkable was that I was parked in my own
driveway.

On Sunday morning, in an interview with Tim Russert on
NBC’s “Meet the Press,” President Bush attempted
to reestablish his credibility. He failed.

The new Medicare law is a bait and switch. Congress and
President Bush claim the law will make the health care system
better, but in actuality it may destroy it.

The Supreme Court announced this week that it will soon hear a
new case, Roper v. Simmons, regarding the constitutionality of
executing minors. For years, the high court has tacitly approved of
executing teenagers who were at least 16 years old when they
committed their crime by allowing states to set their own minimum
age limit.

Proposition 56 just might be the law that will save California.
This March, Californians will vote on several different
propositions; the most important of which is surely this one.

A friend of mine told me a new joke is going around in Italy
about the Bush administration’s new outer space plans:
“The Americans are sending people to Mars to make sure
it’s red.”

Gov. Schwarzenegger won on a substance-free campaign ““ and
I’m not talking about drugs. But now that he is in office,
heading the fifth largest economy in the world, he’ll have to
face the same nightmare of problems that got Gray Davis fired.

Veteran’s Day is supposed to be a day of remembrance
dedicated to those who have served our country, a day to honor
those who have fought, bled and died for the United States.

Gov.-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger will be in Washington, D.C.
today to meet with California lawmakers and Republican House and
Senate leaders. “I will be known in Washington not as the
Terminator but as the Collectinator,” he said, according to
The Los Angeles Times, which reports that he actually will probably
not receive much federal money at all.
