Golfers often have a certain image as serious, focused, and often boring people who couldn’t play other sports and so ended up on the fairway. Very few people would even think of golf as an exciting sport made for the typically lively and energetic college student.

The elusive 100th national title proved to be too difficult to catch once again for UCLA, as the women’s gymnastics team placed fourth on Friday at the NCAA Super Six Finals in Utah.

While the Bruins’ performance at the NCAA women’s gymnastics championships was remarkable given the circumstances, two of UCLA’s finest gymnasts had a rough weekend.

On a night when the Bruins left it all on the floor, even a fourth-place finish felt like a championship.
With two of its gymnasts watching from the sidelines and various others competing in pain, the UCLA women’s gymnastics team finished at the NCAA Championships with a final score of 196.925, bringing a remarkable end to yet another injury-filled season.

Although the women’s gymnastics team traveled to Utah to compete for the national championship, the Bruins had a huge obstacle to overcome on Thursday before any talk of the 100th national title got serious.

With less than 24 hours between the preliminary round and the finals, the Bruins will have to get rested quickly.

Last season, the UCLA women’s gymnastics team failed to qualify for the NCAA Championships for the first time in 15 seasons.
This year, the team was determined not to let failure haunt their dreams once again.

Every team works hard for one ultimate goal and no matter how many injuries they face, no matter how much they have trained, and no matter what they accomplished in the season, only one thing matters at the end ““ the championship.
