Results for the 2018 undergraduate student government election were announced Friday at Meyerhoff Park. This year’s election featured 39 candidates running for nine contested positions, and next year’s council will consist of three Bruins United members, nine independents and two For the People members.
Animals rights groups marched April 27 to protest the use of animals in laboratory experiments at UCLA. Organizers included Progress for Science, In Defense of Animals, Los Angeles for Animals and Liberation Los Angeles.
Westwood Forward, an initiative to create a new neighborhood council in Westwood, held its second town hall Nov. 27. Some attendees voiced their concerns, while others lent their support and shared their visions for the future of Westwood.

Students formed a coalition called Westwood Forward, challenging the existing Westwood Neighborhood Council and petitioning to ratify a new council they say will better represent the UCLA campus and Westwood Village.
The Dashew Center for International Students and Scholars held the World Café event and social Friday as part of its International Education Week program. There, the center served caffeinated drinks from locations including the U.S., Mexico, Israel, Cuba and Thailand.
Many valet workers at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center Hospital are set to be transferred away from UCLA. Some positions will be filled by students. The Student Labor Advocacy Project at UCLA and the UCLA Sanctuary Campus Committee protested this move Oct.
