Student groups also organizing outside the UC Regents meeting include UC Divest and various campus organizations running access and retention programs for marginalized groups, said Grant Li, a third-year linguistics student and a member of the Asian Pacific Coalition. Among their demands are opposing tuition increases and ensuring continuation of funding for student projects, he added.

“Our issues and our struggles aren’t disparate, they’re not separate,” said Jasi Bermejo, a fourth-year human biology and society student. “They come back and are rooted in the same oppressive system.”
