The UCLA Police Department arrested one person for the possession of weapons near the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center following a domestic violence incident Wednesday.

The suspect possessed a gun and multiple illegal knives that UCPD recovered upon apprehending the suspect, according to a UCPD Instagram post. The suspect has no affiliation with UCLA, according to the post.

The suspect was not threatening bystanders, and the incident was not linked to federal agents entering the medical center Tuesday, Jeffrey Chobanian, acting captain of UCPD’s administrative bureau, said in an emailed statement.

It is illegal to carry a weapon on school grounds, according to the California Penal Code. UCLA Policy 131 also prevents weapons such as firearms and large knives from being brought onto campus.

“If you believe you see someone with a weapon on or near campus, contact UCPD immediately,” UCPD added in the Instagram post.
