SANTA MONICA – The AFSCME Local 3299 picketers outside of UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center are chanting in Spanish, “Se ve, se siente, la Unión está presente,” which means, “We see, we feel, the union is present.” The saying is a reference to a popular chant of the United Farm Workers. More than 100 workers are picketing outside the hospital as of 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
