Students returned to in-person classes Tuesday morning after fires in Los Angeles County had been partly contained.
The Palisades fire, which is closest to UCLA, has spread across 23,713 acres and is 63% contained, according to the Cal Fire website. Another fire, which began in Pasadena and Altadena, spread 14,021 acres and is 89% contained.

Two additional fires started Tuesday in San Diego County. High winds – which can spread fires quickly – were forecast across Southern California by the National Weather Service.
