Evacuation orders remain in place across Los Angeles County, with the National Weather Service expecting strong winds until 3 p.m. Wednesday, according to a press release from Unified LA Los Angeles Animal Services, and LAPD has now opened a helpline for people who need their pets retrieved from areas under evacuation order, according to the press release.

City residents can report price gouging – including on consumer goods, cleanup supplies, hotel costs and rental housing prices – to the city attorney, according to the press release. The release also gave guidance on rental disputes caused by the fires, stipulating that landlords must return security deposits and refund prorated January rent on destroyed properties.

“If a rental unit is completely destroyed, the lease no longer applies,” according to the press release. “The tenant does not owe future rent and will need to find a new place to live.”

As of 12 p.m. Wednesday, there are no evacuation warnings or orders covering the UCLA campus.
