Jan. 11, 2025 11:59 a.m.

In an email from UCLA Housing sent shortly after 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Administrative Vice Chancellor Michael Beck and Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Monroe Gorden Jr. said it is likely that campus may fall under an evacuation warning and asked students living in university housing to fill out a survey so that the UCLA administration can evaluate students’ needs.

Beck and Gorden also asked students to pack “essential items” into one bag that can be easily carried, adding that Pauley Pavilion will be an evacuation rally point for students on the Hill, while Tipuana Apartments will be the rally point for students living in university apartments. From there, the email said, the university will provide transportation to an off-campus site if needed.

As of 11:50 a.m. Saturday, UCLA is not under an evacuation warning or order, though an evacuation warning zone for the Palisades fire – which is now over 22,000 acres, according to Cal Fire – is now adjacent to campus.
