Multiple fires remain active across Los Angeles County.
The Palisades fire, which is closest to UCLA and began Tuesday morning, currently has a size of over 21,000 acres, according to the Cal Fire website. Areas under evacuation orders are less than a mile from the UCLA campus, though the campus itself is not currently under any evacuation warnings or orders as of 10:10 p.m. Friday.
The air quality on UCLA’s campus is currently rated as “moderate,” meaning unusually sensitive people – such as those with lung or heart diseases – may be impacted, according to UCLA’s air quality website.
UCLA Chancellor Julio Frenk said in a Friday afternoon email that undergraduate classes scheduled for Monday will remain remote, with the UCLA Academic Senate still to make a decision for the rest of the week.

UCLA Health is experiencing higher than usual numbers of patients, Frenk said in a Friday morning Instagram video message. Evacuees are also being hosted at the Westwood Recreation Center, less than a mile away from campus.
