Los Angeles City Councilmember Katy Yaroslavsky, whose district includes UCLA, said in a press release that over 3,000 people and 23 helicopters have been deployed to assist with fighting the Palisades fire. She added in the statement that evacuation warnings have been issued for Brentwood, but there are no areas east of the 405 freeway under evacuation warning.
The Westwood recreation center remains open to evacuees, Yaroslavsky said in the statement.

Some local residents have been receiving false evacuation notices, Yaroslavsky said in the statement. UCLA students previously reported receiving notices, but no evacuation warning or order is in place for Westwood or the UCLA campus as of 5:05 p.m. Friday.
“If you want to verify whether your area is under evacuation orders, please visit WatchDuty.org or AlertLA.org for real-time updates,” Yaroslavsky said in the statement. “While these false alarms are frustrating, it’s crucial to keep alerts enabled on your devices to ensure you receive accurate emergency information when needed.”
