As of 1:15 p.m. Friday, the air quality in Westwood is currently rated as “unhealthy for sensitive groups,” according to the UCLA Air Quality website. The nearest fire to UCLA, which started in the Pacific Palisades, currently has a size of 20,438 acres, according to the Cal Fire website.

Chancellor Julio Frenk cancelled in-person classes for Friday, but the academic senate is yet to announce a decision on instruction next week.

An announcement will be made soon regarding campus operations for next week, Frenk said in a Friday video message. There are currently no evacuation warnings or orders for Westwood or the UCLA campus as of 1:15 p.m. Friday.
