Los Angeles voters passed Measure ER with a 77.7% majority, according to the LA Times. Measure ER will grant the LA City Ethics Commission the right to independent counsel and will triple the current penalty for a violation of ethics laws from $5,000 to $15,000. It will also require the city council to hold public hearings on commission policy proposals and prevent relatives of county officials, campaign consultants and major donors from becoming members.
