Scattered with news clippings and hot pink spray paint, CEC and CAC’s latest Bruin Bash is dripping in ink.
Four days after the first round of tickets went on sale, the annual concert’s organizers have spelled out the name of its latest opener and headliner – Kenny Mason and Young Nudy. A back-to-school tradition, Bruin Bash has had its social media take on a new look characterized by mismatched letters in black and white. The event will once again take place at the Los Angeles Tennis Center from 7-11 p.m. on Monday with Postmates as a sponsor.
Taking the stage at 8 p.m., fourth-year design media arts student Julian Hamilton, known as his stage name JJ Hammy, began his DJ career in high school and has gone on to release mixes such as “LUV/LOST” and “ETERNAL SUNSHINE IN THE BLACK DIASPORA.” DJ Anastazja will follow his set. Performing anywhere from New York to Los Angeles, Anastazja began her DJing career last year and recently DJed for the Boiler Room festival at El Pueblo de LA.

Atlanta rapper Kenny Mason made his debut in 2019. A 25-year-old at the time, Mason’s single “G.O.A.T.” was featured in the first season of HBO’s “Euphoria.” Last year, the “Angelic Hoodrat” creator performed for Coachella and the Governors Ball music festivals. Embarking on an 18-track trilogy, the upcoming Bruin Bash opener has also released EPs titled “3” and “6” in March and June of this year and plans to release another EP titled “9.”
Announced three hours before the event’s start, Young Nudy will paint the stage with his rap and hip-hop performance. The “Peaches & Eggplants” rapper has toured with Playboi Carti and 21 Savage, the latter of which he collaborated with on “EA,” named after his hometown of East Atlanta, Georgia. Making his debut in 2016, the headliner has since released two sequels to his “Slimeball” album, as well as working with Pi’erre Bourne for the “Sli’merre” mixtape. His most recent release, “Gumbo,” includes food-themed tracks ranging from “McChicken” to “Passion Fruit.”
At this time, floor and bowl ticket sales have concluded. However, the Bruin Bash website states that standby tickets and ticket giveaways will be made available on the Bruin Bash Instagram.
