Man seen peering into student’s window on Kelton Avenue

A man was seen peering into a UCLA student’s Westwood apartment early Thursday morning, the most recent in a series of similar incidents this year.
The student, who asked to remain anonymous, said she was watching a movie in her apartment on the 400 block of Kelton Avenue at about 1:25 a.m. when she felt someone staring at her. She looked at her window and saw a man peering through the glass. She said she immediately ran away from the window into her bedroom and called university police to report the incident.
Police said they believe the man is the same person who has been involved in similar “peering” incidents on Roebling Avenue during January, though this incident was the first reported incident on Kelton Avenue, UCPD spokeswoman Nancy Greenstein said in an email statement. The man involved with the previous incidents was described as about 30 years old, black and between 5-feet-10-inches and 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt.
Officers arrested a suspect in connection with the incidents on Sunday, though he was not the same person who looked into the student’s window Thursday morning, Greenstein said in the statement.
Police increased patrol in the North Village area, including officers on foot and bikes because of the recent calls about peering incidents.
The case is still under investigation.
