Associated Students UCLA is a multimillion-dollar organization that provides student services and activities that the university does not fund and oversees the Undergraduate Students Association Council, Graduate Students Association, Communications Board, campus services and enterprises.

PROPOSALS

  • Adam Swart, undergraduate representative, proposed a “nap room” on the third floor of Kerckhoff Hall to revitalize the lounge by installing 11 sleep pods for students to sleep on while they are on campus, Swart said.

STORE

  • Book sales are declining because of competition from online ordering and because faculty are being asked to not require books for their courses.
  • Foot traffic is up on the first floor and down on A-level, likely because of Wolfgang Puck Express’ opening, said Bob Williams, executive director of ASUCLA.
  • ASUCLA is still seeing lower sales in the computer store, Williams said.
  • A staff appreciation sale will be held on Dec. 3, 4 and 5.
  • The Monster Sale was the biggest sale this year, but fell a bit below last year’s revenue. The student store made a little more than $400,000.
  • The Health Sciences Store’s computer outlet will have its grand opening on Nov. 6, but it is open and running now, Williams said.
  • New t-shirt design contest displays will be at an event on Kerckhoff Coffeehouse Patio on Nov. 14.
  • A Student Media Summit will be held in Kerckhoff State Rooms on Nov. 15.

CONSTRUCTION

  • The Panda Express remodel project will begin to be discussed as more of “The Black Experience” mural is revealed, Williams said. Restoration of the mural began on Oct. 3.
  • Wolfgang Puck Express’ patio outside of Ackerman Union will get planter boxes soon, Williams said.
