Creepy costumes reign during 11th hour

A Dance Marathon participant gets into the “Power Outage” theme.

When darkness falls, the creepers come out.

At least that’s what it seems like with the new shift theme “Power Outage.”

There are plenty of skeleton costumes around me, along with a plethora of spooky masks, which makes me feel like I’m celebrating Halloween eight months early.

Along with the theme change came a switch in the style of music as the Los Angeles-based Super Mash Bros. took over for DJDB, who had been deejaying for more than eight hours.

The Super Mash Bros’ penchant for mixing songs that wouldn’t seem to go well together added to the weird factor, though Sum 41’s “Fat Lip” and Lil Jon’s “Get Low” mashed together surprisingly well.

And then there is the guy wearing a tutu and fairy wings, the couple dressed in matching Spongebob Squarepants costumes and the dude in the a skin-tight, full-body yellow leotard with a bandana covering his nether regions. I’m not quite sure what they’re going for, but the end result is creepy in a different way.
