Magician transferred to UCLA hospital

Roy Horn of the magic show duo “Siegfried and Roy”
was transferred Tuesday to UCLA Medical Center from University
Medical Center in Las Vegas, where he received medical care after
being attacked by a white tiger Oct. 3.

Horn was brought to the medical center for further evaluation
and treatment and is reported to be improving.

“Roy is now making the transition from survival to
recovery,” said Siegfried Fischbacher, Roy’s
partner.

Halfway through a performance in Las Vegas, a tiger bit
Horn’s arm and then lunged at his neck and dragged him off
stage.

Members of the audience said at the time they were unsure
whether the attack was part of the act.

Immediately after the attack, Horn suffered a stroke.

Horn remains in critical condition but is slowly improving.
While at University Medical Center, Horn underwent two surgical
operations to stop blood loss.

“While we are all aware that the road ahead is long, all
of us in the Siegfried and Roy family are encouraged by Roy’s
remarkable demonstration of will, courage and faith,” said
Fischbacher.
