Frame by frame, Abigail Alonso is bringing Native American representation to the screen.
In July, the animation graduate student served as a panelist at the 20th San Diego International Children’s Film Festival, held in conjunction with the annual San Diego Comic Convention.
Hundreds of Native Americans and other community members attended the 39th annual UCLA Pow Wow from Saturday to Sunday.
Hosted by the American Indian Student Association and held at the Wallis Annenberg Stadium, the two-day event – which was free to the public – featured music and dances across different Native American cultures.
“De Neve has never looked this good,” said second-year economics student Elizabeth Marmer.
As she walked into the dining hall, Marmer was met with drumming, colorful tablecloths and the smell of Native American cuisine.
