Cristopher Espino has a bright career in politics ahead of him.

Council members were evaluated in these areas on a scale from A to D, with D being poor performance and A being excellent performance.

He creates services geared towards the student body that redefine and re-emphasize the importance of the academic affairs commissioner.

“We’re really trying to revolutionize the work we do,” Espino said.

Espino has made progress in starting and receiving funding for a research unit within the Academic Affairs Commission to make research more accessible to students. He was inspired to create this cohort in light of the budget cuts. Similarly, he launched the Interdepartmental Student Council, which helps existing student councils and establishes student advisory boards for departments that do not have them.

Through projects such as this, Espino unites UCLA faculty and students to help them pursue the true spirit of university: the pursuit of knowledge in community. He also makes good on his campaign promises, all of which revolve around academic empowerment and equity.

Espino has been consistent in updating his officer reports and sharing information on the AAC Instagram.

However, it is clear Espino seeks to connect more with the student body in the coming quarters.

“I think the best type of transparency really happens collaborating,” Espino added.

Espino describes his philosophy as “strategizing around the ‘no.'” With this attitude, there’s no doubt that, in the coming quarters, he will continue to make good on his campaign promises.
